Printer Name Length
-----------------------------------
Some applications may experience problems when the printer's
"friendly" name exceeds 31 characters. When configuring the
printer's name, use a name of 31 characters or less.

Universal Tray (Tray 1) Custom Page Size
-----------------------------------
Configuring tray 1 for media sizes it does not support
causes media jams in the printer. The supported media
sizes for tray 1 are
3.54 x 5.83" (90 x 148 mm) - 12.24 x 18.00" (311 x 457 mm).

Restoring Driver Defaults and Custom Settings
-----------------------------------
Selecting the Restore Driver Defaults button or saving custom
configuration settings from the printer driver does not
restore or save configuration values on the Layout
and Paper/Quality tabs. These two tabs are controlled by the
Windows Operating System and are not affected by the use of
the Restore Driver Defaults button or custom settings.

Special Files and/or Configurations
-----------------------------------
In some instances, special files and/or configurations may be
required by an application to produce correct output on your
print system. These files may be used to produce proper color
output or to add support for a specific printer within an
application. In addition, certain applications may require
the use of a specific PostScript driver (for example, PageMaker
5.0 requires the Microsoft v3.56 or greater PostScript driver).
In such cases, you may need to use special files, such as PPDs or
WPDs, to add support for your printer. (Check your application's
documentation to determine if you need to use one or more of these
files.)

Sharing the NT4 Driver on Windows XP/2000 Servers
-------------------------------------------------
When operating in a Windows XP or 2000 server environment,
the PostScript driver for Windows NT4 cannot be
installed using the server "Install Additional Driver" dialog.
To share the NT4 driver from a Windows XP or 2000 Server,
the NT4 driver must be installed as a separate printer object on
the server and then configured for sharing.

NOTE: The shared NT4 printer object should not be used for
printing from Windows XP or 2000 servers.

N-up Printing Using Microsoft Word
--------------------------------------
Selecting N-up printing from Microsoft Word may result in
incorrect output. To avoid problems, choose N-up (Pages per Sheet)
printing only in the printer driver and not in Word.

Missing Watermarks on N-up, Duplexed Media
--------------
When using the following media sizes configured for printing
watermarks on N-up, duplexed print jobs, watermarks may not
print on all pages as expected.
8 x 10
Folio
Foolscap
Government Legal
Government Letter
Kai 8/16/32
SP Folio
Reported problems using these media sizes have been
limited; however, as a precaution we recommend that if you do use
these media sizes for N-up, duplex printing, inspect the printed
output for missing watermarks.

Print Quality
--------------
Some applications, such as Microsoft Excel, include Print Quality
options within the application's Page Setup dialog. From this
dialog print quality selection is limited to 600 dpi.

To access the printer's valid range of Print Quality options, set
the Resolution via the Features tab within Printer Properties.

Scaling
----------
Scaled output is generated by the active application and
controlled by the Microsoft core driver. For example, scaled
documents created using Word, Excel, and WordPad all
generate different output. There are known issues among these
applications where, depending on the percentage of scaling,
output may be shifted and/or clipped at or near margins.
Additionally, these same applications are known to scale document
margins as well.

Font Substitutions on Operating Systems
----------------------------------------------
Files printed from an Operating System (OS) other than the
OS they were prepared for may experience font substitutions if
the fonts used are not supported by the OS from which the
print job is sent. Font substitution occurs in these
circumstances even if the font used is a printer-resident
font. For example, a file designed to use
Macintosh OS-supported fonts such as Geneva, Monaco, or
Chicago is printed using Arial or Times New Roman fonts
when the print job is sent from a PC using a Windows OS.

To avoid font substitutions when porting a file from one OS to
another, open the file on the OS from which it will be printed
and assign fonts supported by the OS.

Duplicate Functionality within Driver Dialogs
----------------------------------------------
There are known duplications of driver settings and controls
between driver tabs. For example, the Mirror setting is available
from both the Layout/Advanced dialog and from the Features/
Advanced Graphics dialog. This is known behavior and is a result
of functionality provided by the Microsoft driver core and
proprietary printer features.

Monochrome Output
------------------
When monochrome (black and white) output is selected on the Paper
Quality tab, the driver may include Device CMYK within the
PostScript data stream. This will increment the printer color
page counter and could cause the printer engine to request color
toner (when any color toner is empty) despite the request for
monochrome output.

To avoid this issue, select Black & White via the Features/
Advanced Color Options/Change Current Settings dialog.

IPP Port
---------
When an IPP port is selected, the Page Order group box on
the Layout tab does not display. This is a known Microsoft issue
and is not exhibited with other port selections.

Port Monitor
-------------
Bi-directional printer communication is required for full driver
functionality, and this driver is optimized to use Crown Print
Monitor+ (CPM+) as the preferred port monitor when printing via
TCP/IP.

Booklet Printing using Acrobat Reader (Japanese 5.0/6.0)
--------------------------------------
Selecting Booklet printing from the Acrobat Reader (Japanese 5.0/6.0)
application may result in incorrect output.

information on how to use each option in the driver.
